In Tunisia and around the Mediterranean Sea, 3 basic plant fibers grow: reed mace, halfah grass and palm trees. From these three fibers, baskets, carpets and other handmade products are crafted.
Nabeul is Tunisia’s first tourist center for weaving baskets and making soles and carpets from bulrush.
However, my rug was woven in the south of Tunisia by my craftsman who weaves all the beautiful products that you can see on my website.
According to my design, the “Qmar” rug is hand-knitted from reed mace, “smar” in Arabic. The unique ornament and a black ribbon is woven into the rug. Decorated with hand-knitted cotton tassels.
